Operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut is now celebrating its 30th year in operation. This amazing milestone will be acknowledged with a cake-cutting ceremony along with new renovations of the property and a major expansion. The casino plans to add a Great Wolf Lodge to the property, which includes an indoor water park and family entertainment center, plus hotel accommodations. Ground-breaking will begin this summer and the property should be up and running by 2024.

Family-Friendly Additions

The Great Wolf Lodge facility will be added to 15 acres that are located next to Foxwoods. The area will become family-friendly, offering plenty of activities for all ages and overnight stays. According to the CEO of Foxwoods, Jason Guyot, the new option will be a huge driver for foot traffic to the area.

Visitors will be able to take advantage of the new offering along with visiting the existing Foxwoods Resort, which is the largest resort casino in the Northeast region of the United States. It offers 340,000 square feet of gaming, including 3,400 slot machines and just under 250 table games. The poker area consists of more than 50 tables and in the spring, the casino will open its new High Stakes Bingo Hall.

Along with the gaming potions, Foxwoods is home to a Tanger Outlet Mall, hotels, dozens of dining options, two theaters, event venues, spas, golf course, zip-line, and go-cart track.

New Additions

As part of the Foxwood expansion plans, the property will be adding the Rainmaker Expo Center in the fall. This facility will be 75,000 square feet in size and offer space for live concerts and trade shows. The property’s Great Cedar Casino, Grant Pequot Casino, Rainmaker Casino, and Fox Tower Casino will be redesigned with renovations connected to the main entrance.

According to Guyot, the Connecticut casino has plans to announce new restaurants and experiences every month. This will give patrons something to look forward to throughout the year. However, the plans are not without opposition.

Town meetings in Norwich have brought concerns that the developer of the new Preston RV Resort will negatively affect nearby wetlands, meadowland, and forest areas. The new RV park connected to the casino is set to offer luxury pull-through options for RV owners, as well as tent camping, cabins, and a swimming pool.

It seems as though, despite the local concern, the RV park will continue to be developed as planned.
